REVIEW LOGOV
EXPO 2006
Meakin Park - Logan City on Tuesday
and Wednesday 10th and 11th October, 2006.
The biggest ever Logov showcased over 220 exhibitors
on 315 sites. Logov stands alone as Queensland's largest
Local Government trade exhibition, displaying products,
equipment, machinery, materials and services used
by Public Works organisations.
The City of Logan Sporting Association's grounds were
again utilized to showcase a massive variety of static
and dynamic displays. These included heavy machinery,
trucks, cranes, scissor lifts, trench-shoring, sewerage
and drainage pipes and pumps, traffic control devices,
safety equipment, parks furniture, landscaping and
turf supplies, playground equipment, survey equipment,
computer programs, hire gear, and highly innovative
equipment with particular emphasis on its applicability
in remote areas.
Feedback has been very positive, particularly from
companies who took orders from delegates and visitors
from the many Local Authorities attending. Several
hundred of these visitors came in specially chartered
buses from as far away as Maryborough, Isis, Maroochy,
Toowoomba and Warwick. Some even came by plane from
Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.
Approximately 5000 Official Catalogues were distributed
at the gates and by mail prior to the show, to all
Queensland Institute of Public Works engineers, Government
Departments and Consulting firms.
The organisers are very grateful to Logan City Council
for its continued support and particularly to the
exhibitors, many of whom return for every Logov, to
assist the Foundation in its funding of continued
research into the science of Public Works Engineering
and management. The Official Opening was carried out
by Logan City Mayor, Cr. Graham Able, the ceremony going live
to air on local radio 101FM. Following a welcome by
Mr. Dawson Wilkie, President of the IPWEAQ, the Works
Chairman, Lynne Clark, presented 8 plaques to
winners of the exhibits judged as most outstanding
in various categories.

The Committee would also like to take this opportunity
to thank all exhibitors and visitors to the event
as well as companies and personnel who assisted
its organisation in any way. Without such assistance,
Logov 2006 would not have been the success it
was. |
